Thanks to everyone who took part.

We received a gifted copy of the recently released U2 live concert DVD – U2 360° Live at the Rose Bowl DVD – from the good folk over at Big Concerts, and as promised, we’re giving it away. Here’s your chance to see what all the fuss is about, and to get a feel for the concerts we’ll be experiencing ourselves in February 2011 when U2 perform live in South Africa.

Filmed on 25th October 2009

U2360° At The Rose Bowl was the penultimate gig of last year’s U2360° tour in support of their Grammy-nominated album No Line on The Horizon. The Rose Bowl performance was the band’s biggest show of 2009 and U2’s biggest ever US show, with a live audience in excess of 97,000. The show was also streamed across seven continents via YouTube. The first ever live streaming of a full-length stadium concert, U2360° at the Rose Bowl had over 10 million views on the channel in one week. Shot entirely in High Definition, the concert was filmed with 27 cameras and directed by Tom Krueger who had previously worked on U2-3D, the first live action 3D concert movie taken from U2’s Vertigo Tour.

  1. Wow, this is a competition I am definitely commenting on and entering.
I have my ticket to the Jo’burg U2 concert – only stood in the queue for two hours, well worth it- and can’t wait to see U2 live next year!
This DVD is really going to help get me further psyched for the live show.

I am following The BlaBla blog on Twitter & a fan on Facebook: Linda Thompson & @linda_thompson

    • Terrific Linda! Consider yourself entered. On condition you add the title of your favourite U2 song as well of course!

      (Missed that bit didn’t you 🙂 )

      • I know! I realised afterwards and thought to myself “you doofus Linda, where is the answer”. I was so pleased to see such a cool and interactive competition that I forgot to add my song! Thanks for the comment, was worried I’d forfeit my entry. Luckily gained another through the following. 😉

And it is: “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For”

        • I have spoke with the tongue of angels
I have held the hand of a devil

          No fear. 3rd entry confirmed.

  2. The Sweetest Thing:-)

    • Blue-eyed boy meets a brown-eyed girl.
      (Oh, the sweetest thing.)

      Anya is in!

  3. Sunday Bloody Sunday

    • ‘Cos tonight
We can be as one, tonight.

      Shaz makes the list

  4. Can I give the lyric and you find the song?

    You say you want
Diamonds on a ring of gold
    Your story to remain untold
Your love not to grow cold

    No entry, just a quiz……no GOOGLE allowed….

    • All the promises we break
From the cradle to the grave
When all I want is you!

All I Want Is You. Too easy. Go hard or go home!

      • Back….

        I fought fate
There’s blood at the garden gate
        The man said childhood
        It’s in his childhood

        Song and significance….

        • Hmm. Okay, you stumped me with the song. So I admit I had to Google

I figure out that its from “Out of Control”. The significance has something to do with when it was written I think. It’s off of the album Boy wasn’t it?

      • The song is CORRECT, the significance is the tricky one, It is their FIRST recorded song, Yes it was on OCTOBER, but it first appeared on their first EP, U2 Three, Side one. read more here
Not many people know about this album, it is not in their catalog.

        Now, give me a prize!

        • Big, fat sloppy kiss from my aging aunt Martha on its way to you. You winner you!

  13. Roll on 2011.
It would be great if the Jozie gig is Dvd’d.
Amazing that Wembley 360 is not on DVD,where were the marketing guys ?

    • I think the decision to do the Rose Bowl show to DVD was probably two-fold Willy. (1) It was the biggest audience to date on the 360 degree tour, and (2) the US is the largest market of music buying publics and there’s always that ‘value add’ bonus to buying something that has a familiarity to it – “I was there”, “It happened in a place I’ve been too”, etc.

Don’t get me wrong. I’d be the first in the queue to get me U2-loving paws on a copy of “U2 360 Degrees Live in Joburg”. But on a wider scale they’d probably sell more copies of the “Live in Pasadena” version to causal or occasional fans. Mind you, if, no when!, Joburg sells out, it will be the biggest audience on the tour yet. And if Marcels’ suggestion (here: sees the light of day, that could combine to add serious value to the “Live in Joburg” DVD too!
