What Are The Odds? Fate’s Cruel Fist
In a story which could have been scripted for a Tarantino movie, Spanish news this afternoon were reporting that a woman who committed suicide by jumping out of an eighth-floor window killed a male pedestrian who was walking along the street below.
The 45-year-old woman died instantly in the fall while the severely injured pedestrian later died in hospital. The incident itself happened on Monday in the town of Viladecans, a suburb of Barcelona.
Some reports in the Spanish media were reporting that the pedestrian was of Ukrainian origin, but the police spokesman described him as a Spanish national.
It would almost be funny if it wasn’t so tragically saddening.
Now I ask you: what are the odds of being hit by the falling body of a person committing suicide while innocently walking along the sidewalk? Hell, they must be huge. Either the pedestrian must have been marked by fate for being seriously bad earlier in his life; or he must’ve been the unluckiest sap on the planet.
