Top Sing Along Songs

It’s about 1.28 am on a Saturday morning and you have been out at a mates house for a couple of “sundowners”, the neighbours have come over and so have the mates from across town. Way to many beers, bottles of wine and more than likely a bottle of Jagermeister and or Sours later, the host is doing his thing on the iPod.

The amp is turned up past the VOL MAX setting and the speakers are moving the earth off it’s natural axis. Playing some of the best songs from your “era”, you know, the ones that make us all get a little nostalgic and very thirsty. Then that one song you would never play under normal circumstances slips onto the playlist, the one we all know the words to……we sing , at the top of our well lubricated voices. Screaming the Chorus at the top of your voice you are now having a really good time.

You suddenly have a brainwave and decide you remember a BETTER song than this and run over to the “DJ” and tell him to spin your song…………..

What would yours be? What is the one song you always recon takes a party from just plain fun to brilliant Jol? The song you and all your mates sing to.

I am planning on creating a number of “play lists” in the future and obviously need to start with the late night party one.

This post was inspired by my mates, the best in the world! Oh and a thanks to my wife for never really killing me for pouring “one more round” or playing “One More Tune”

Here are some of the obvious choices I have found over the years…..

  • Bee Gees – Stayin’ Alive
  • Billy Idol – Mony Mony
  • Joan Jett – I Love Rock And Roll
  • Don McLean – American Pie
  • Queen – Bohemean Rapsody
  • Bon Jovi – Living On A Prayer
  • Journey – Don’t Stop Believing
  • Chumbawambe – Tubthumping ( I Get Knocked Down)
  • Midnight Oil – Beds Are Burning
  • AC/DC – Highway To Hell
  • Robbie Williams – Angels
  • Oasis – Wonderwall
  • Lynard Skynard – Sweet Home Alabama ( Kid Rocks version might be taking over)
  • Madness – Our House

  1. Hazel Dean – They say it's gonna Rain (12")

    Underworld – Underneath the Radar

    Golden Earing – Radar Love

    Opus – Life is Live

    • Noted and loaded…….not a bad selection!
