Top 100 SA Wine Lists Announced

Wine-List-Challenge-LogoThe good folk over at WineStyle Magazine have just announced the list of South Africa’s Top 100 Wine Lists before the list has even made the official site).

Perhaps the fact that WineStyle Magazine editor, the lovely Jenny Ratcliffe-Wright (who we had the pleasure of meeting earlier this year), was one of the select judging panel may have something to do with that.

Regardless, we’ve got the regional list for you here so that you can plan your next food and wine soiree in a spot with a sure to be fantastic wine list present.

Scoring of the restaurant entered wine lists is done using a 100 point matrix and includes a thorough criteria set that considers everything from the physical presentation, condition and visual appeal of the wine list, through to the balance of South African versus International wines available, the variety and range available and the storage conditions of the restaurants’ wines. Even the glassware in which wines are served is scored.

(Here’s the official scoring matrix if you really want to get insight into the judging process.)
