The Kindness of Strangers – Blog Makeover Competition
Strolling around over at WhiteSockGirl’s The Joys of my Splintered Life a moment or twelve ago, I came across her post about a contest giveaway being hosted by Mrs. M, via her I’ve Changed My Name To Mommy blog.
Being the curious type that I am, I followed the links and had a look around Mrs. M’s blog. And what a terrific looking site it is! Reading a couple of her posts and it became clear that this is a lady with a huge talent. And not just professionally in her web site work. She writes with an honesty and style that can’t help but make you want to read more. Her latest post describing her conversation with one of her young children is brilliant. And the self-described nature of her hot assets (“I’ve always been what you might call “stacked””) and how her son has used these to hilarious effect is a classic piece of life-blogging.
Another thing that struck me was that her site is full of giveaways and special offers for services and products that she personally tests and recommends. This is one giving lady. The fact that the contests and giveways drive traffic to her site and business is an obvious (and deserved) bonus.
The contest that WSG mentioned, and that drew me to Mrs. M’s place, is one in which Mrs. M is offering to giveaway a complete Blog site makeover to one of her readers. In fact there is also a seperate prize of a makeover at a local salon, Ahead of Style (great name for a salon!). WhiteSockGirl is trying to earn the blog makeover prize, for a couple of reasons:
- The local salon where the makeover prize is taking place is in Vancouver, SWG is in Namibia.
- SWG is a stylish, modern woman and doesn’t need a makeover – she’s well sorted in those areas already, we’re sure!
- SWG needs all the help she can get to sort out the look of her blog – she is just a little technically challenged.
- And besides, what self-respecting “selfish, spoiled and 100% bitchy” woman has time to fret over the look of her blog pages? She just needs them to look fabulous!
And, so to highlight Mrs. M’s kindness to strangers, and to help SWG win that needed blog makeover, we hope you’ll visit the blogs of both these ladies, and support their causes however you can.
