The BlaBla Blog Ama-Zing race
Yesterday Mrs.Voted, Greg and myself participated in the Ama-Zing Race thanks to an invitation from You Make Joburg Great. We have been supporters of their campaign for a while now and they thought we deserved a Thank You so to say…..The race was run by Apple (Core Group) and partners MINI. We had to meet at the iStore in Sandton at 10am. There we signed all the waivers/disclaimers/paperwork and got a brief presentation on the reasons behind the day and the “rules” for the day.
We got given the keys to a Mini CooperS Convertible, a props pack, some padkos, an iPOD loaded with tunes and a clue. We were then told to head off into Joburg and take pics of the things we loved and or inspired us. So we jumped into the Mini and left our competitors looking for parking so to say…………We had to meet back at the iStore later and create a Photobook of our images. The best book would win each participant an iPOD.
We shot down the M1 to Soccer City. We got some good pics of what must be the most impressive building I have ever seen. It is impressive, the trip there is well worth it. We then past Gold Reef City and The Apartheid Museum on our way to Newtown. That is one dodge place let me tell you. I was surprised to see the amount of odd people there during the day. I normally only make it to that part of town during the night. We then past by Constitutional Hill. I have never been up there but had to include it in my day. We might have spent to much time there as the clouds started building up. So Roof up and off to Parktown. Zoo Lake is testament to Jozi being an international city. Our own “Central Park”, we got some good pics there and then made our way back to the iStore in Sandton.
We did some editing on our pics and started with our Photobook. It came out so cool. Hopefully I will be able to upload the .pdf file and you will get to see it. Unfortunately we never won. The team iMINI made brilliant effort and pipped us at the post. But we had a brilliant day and I would just like to thank everyone involved.
Now the serious stuff. You to can participate. Go to www.az-za.co.za and enter the Ama-Zing race. The idea behind the promotion is creating a buzz around South Africa in 2010. Celebrating the country, people, towns and places we love. Go for it. These campaigns need our support. Also try YMJG they are doing good stuff around our city to.
P.S. Some well informed readers might like to know that core/Apple are keen in participating in our upcoming project, so watch this space!
