Samsung Mobile Stage the Ultimate Online Talent Contest

It seems that Samsung Mobile have been running their “Stage” Online YouTube Talent Contest for a good while now, so it came as a bit of surprise to me to hear about it earlier today for the first time. It sounds a little like an online, video-based version of America’s Got Talent or Britain’s Got Talent reality shows.

Perhaps it was launched during the period of my self-imposed online exile, but I’m pretty sure I didn’t see or hear anything about in the offline world either.

None-the-less, it’s here now, and I have a suggestion for talented locals. But first, check out this quick promo clip showing what a group of basketball beat merchants put together:

~~

Go make a 2 minute video to showcase your talent, upload it to the Samsung Stage YouTube account, harness the strength of your online social circles to gather as many votes for your video as you can, and pocket the $25,000 cash prize.

Judging by some of the poor entries posted on the site so far, this is a pretty fool proof plan: we have a ton of local talent that could easily perform better than most of the entrants so far. The benchmark so far is the monthly winner from Australia who filmed himself “kicking a footy into a dustbin from some distance”. Shoo, now that’s talented hey?!

So what do you have to do? Simple really: Make sure you have a YouTube account, complete the Entry Form here, upload your Brilliantly Awesome Talent Showcase Video to the Samsung Stage channel, and sit back while the votes and fame roll in.

There are no limits on what you can submit in terms of talent and creativity, but there are a few basic rules:

  • Keep it under two minutes long.
  • Maximum 3 entries per month.
  • Steer clear of copyrighted material – i.e. music, even in the background.
  • Non-English speaking confuses our swearing detector. If there is non-English language, consider removing the sound.
  • No naughty words.
  • For further details, please read contest rules carefully.

More via the links on either of the two video clips. Good luck! Now go out there and go get famous!
