Random Kak Out Now
Random Kak I remember about growing up in South Africa by Trevor Romain is a foefie-slide straight back to your youth in South Africa.
Howzit – earlier in the year you guys wrote about my then upcoming book Random Kak (I remember about growing up in South Africa). It started as a series of blog posts that went viral and is now a book published by Penguin Books. Just wanted to let you okes know that the book has just been released in South Africa. I hope you’ll check it out. Thanks hey.
That’s the message I got last week from Trevor Romain. Regulars in these parts will recall I posted a couple of those original blog post images here last year. Now they, and many others are included in Trevors’ just released Random Kak (I remember about growing up in South Africa).
Available from Exclusive Books (where I’m getting my copy), Trevors’ publishers, Penguin Books, tell me that you can also get yours via a number of the online retailers if you’re not able to get to a traditional bricks and mortar store: Try Exclus1ves, Kalahari, Loot, or TAKEALOT.com.
(Of those Loot is offering the best deal on Random Kak right now – just R119 against the recommended retail of R150)
Penguin also suggest that an e-book edition of Random Kak will be available, but none of the indicated vendors have the digital version listed just yet. (I’ll update this info once they do.) That said though, this is one of those times when grabbing a physical copy is well worth the effort.
If you, or someone close to you, remembers when you wore bell bottoms and wound up cassette tapes with a Bic pen. When ‘The World at War’ was on TV and LM Radio played on the radiogram. When there were call-up papers in the mailbox and 2c stamps on letters. When VW Beetles were everywhere, the Bay City Rollers were it, and the smell of Wintergreen filled the change rooms. Then this is the book for you and yours.
And that’s not just me spouting some random kak at you. It’s the truth broer, I swear. Check you at the Doll House for a double-thick my Chinas!
