Friday Photo 7: Bugged

stop now monster bug
prey on my mind no longer
glowing eyes dim now

feast now you monster
soon it will all disappear
days are numbered

Bugged Crafted in metal, the “bug” in question here is a representation of a carnivorous super dragonfly thought to be around in the age of dinosaurs. With a body over 1m long and a wingspan in excess of 2m, it must have been a hellishly freaky sight. Not quite the gossamer light and gentle one’s we see these days as they flit over the water in ponds and pools.

The version here is cropped from the original, with the (fairly boring museum) background blurred and smudged. Clicking the image should enlarge it on screen. I’d appreciate any comments and thoughts as usual. (Help with the haiku would work to…)

  1. Kind of scary looking.

  2. Taken on celluloid? I figured you for a digital man…..

  3. That is one seriously ugly looking bug! Glad to see that it's not around anymore – would hate to see that thing that close up for real!

  4. Great photo! Even if I hate bugs.
