deadmau5 south africa tour 2011
All the deadmau5 SA Tour 2011 details (dates, venues and ticket prices) are here: Deadmau5 Live in South Africa–Tour Details
It’s been a rumour for a while. Now it’s confirmed.
deadmua5 will visit South Africa this year, probably in late November or early December. Summer holiday dance party time!
With official confirmation of dates and venues still to be made (suggestions point to announcements this week still…) the online and social media world has been flooded by new sites, trending tweets, and even a shout out from the man himself:

deadmau5 said it himself via Twitter & Facebook: “get ready!”
deadmua5 is the nom-de-plume of 30-year old Canadian Joel Thomas Zimmerman a progressive, electro, and house music producer based in Toronto. He is known for performing his live sets in a giant costume head, which resembles a mouse head.
The producer (he vehemently dislikes the term DJ – more on that in a moment…) has, well produced I guess, 5 studio albums since his debut Get Scraped in 2006. The most recent of his studio works is 2010s 4×4=12, and pundits are suggesting that much of the deadmau5 performances in South Africa will be drawn from it. Fans can also expect a couple of older fan favourite tracks as well.
Expect tracks like Sofi Needs a Ladder, Ghosts n Stuff, Animal Rights and Raise Your Weapon to get an airing or two in at least Cape Town and Johannesburg. We’re holding thumbs that the Durban dance-bunnies also get an opportunity to get their fix of mau5ing as well.
deadmau5 on DJs, 2008, Irish Daily Star
“It puts me to fucking sleep, to be quite honest; I don’t really see the technical merit in playing two songs at the same speed together and it bores me to fucking tears and hopefully, with all due respect to the DJ type that will fucking go the way of the dinosaur, I’d like them to dis-a-fucking-ppear! It’s so middle man, they’re like fucking lawyers! You need them, but they’re fucking cunts. God bless them, they’re my number one customer right, so I’m not gonna go diss every fucking DJ. But to say you become this massive, “up on a podium” performer by playing other peoples productions, at the same speed as someone else’s productions and fading between the two of them, I don’t get it…”

Without the head, Joel is just your average Canadian kid
Headline sponsors for the tour are Olmeca Tequila, which can never be a bad thing, and they have put together a couple of promotional sites for mau5ers to stay up-to-date with developments:

Hahaha!! He looks so weird without the mouse head! Def wouldnt think of him as a world known music ‘producer’ if I met him in the street. (whats up with that anti-DJ rant anyway?
Awesomest news to hear that he will be playing in SA soon. Cant wait to get me super sexy groove on to Raise your Weapon in CTown! Just hope he gets here after the exams in November…
Hope you’ve followed up on the deadmau5 SA Tour Details that we posted here Janlee?

The good news for you is that he’ll be in Cape Town on December 1st (It’s a Thursday – Student Night!) at Ratanga Junction.
The potential bad news is that the tour is a 18+ Only event (they have a tequila company as the main sponsor).
If that doesn’t affect you, the only other potential problem is that since tickets went on sale yesterday, they’ve been selling fast. If you haven’t got yours yet best you go go go!
He’s bloddy huge in Ausland too. Sounds like you lot are set to get your summer holidays off to a thumping good start!
We have David Guetta here (with Akon) in a short while as well. I hear he’s a fairly popular turntabler too?
