AKing – The Red Blooded Years

Only a year and half after releasing their second album, aKing’s third album has hit the stores. And without a doubt, it’s something to get uploaded onto your ipods and played through your ear phones as soon as possible.

This time around they first focused on their vocals and lyrics. Once that was perfected, they moved to their guitars, drums and bass. As a result each line of every song is poetry, made up of the perfect combination of music and words.

Their first single and music video from The Red Blooded Years can be found on their website and youtube.  They’ve kept it simple, displaying each band member’s personality and talents whilst making use of the latest trends in design to showcase themselves in a pseudo cartoon world. In under a month, The Runaround has received over 6 050 hits on youtube, already half of what their hit Against All Odds acquired after eight months.

With their unique blend of melancholy yet happy rock music, aKing are finding a huge fan base in every South African city that they visit. Their new album, The Red Blooded Years, is sure to be one of 2011’s greatest successes for the South African industry. Get yourself down to one of their CD launches and make sure you buy their latest album.

[eds note – visit aKing on Facebook and get to listen to tracks from the new album, including “The Runaround”, now]
